My Projects

Selected works and projects by Mia Burke — from published writing, work in progress, to passion pieces.

Come Undone

Unfulfilled silent film superstar Moriah Will easily straddles sets between Broadway and Hollywood as The Girl with the Curls. Up-and-coming Zionist star statesman David Melek searches the world for a place to call home—both for himself and the scattered people of Israel, as he carries the past of both his people and his mistakes.

Stars collide when the two perform at a fundraiser, leaving the starstruck Moriah questioning who she is and where home lies as her on-screen persona dissolves under his perceptive probing of the woman under the curls. As abruptly as they meet, he disappears. Four years later, while promoting a WWI War Bond tour across Europe, the two reconnect, falling into the unthinkable—facing devastating consequences personally and politically.

Much like the love story of Christ and the church, Moriah is propelled into a journey of self-discovery, left to face her struggle to believe in redemption—not only in herself but from the only ONE who can love her when she has Come Undone.

The Other Disciples

Jesus called twelve disciples, or did he? The Gospels record the calling of twelve men, but in a closer reading, there were women, named women, within that group, too. This Bible Study on discipleship holistically explores the twelve women who sat at Jesus’ feet, living out his ministry in discipleship in the New Testament, and what their journeys mean to 21st-century followers.

My Story

Mia Burke grew up crisscrossing the US with her family, preparing her for life as a military wife. She’s the author of Come Undone, as well as two televised documentaries, several screenplays, sketches, shorts, and articles with potential literary value. She’s currently curating a collaborative non-fiction, The Other Disciples: Reflections on the 12 Named Women Jesus Called to Follow Him

She’s also written numerous research papers for her MFA in Communications and BA in English, as well as persuasive marketing copy, and has submitted more checks and grant applications to educational institutions than should be allowed.

After many years of pursuing a patchwork of careers as a waitress, producer, college administrator, maid, college instructor, magazine curator, and communications director, Mia finally accepted that she is a writer and writes full-time.

She now lives on the Gulf Coast. Her favorite people are:

one husband supporting,
four kids adulting,
two dogs a-barking,
one cat meowing,
and a grand monkey in an Orlando orange tree.
